Analyst Ives: AirPods 3 Ready to Launch and Likely to Be Announced at Monday’s Apple Event

Apple will host a virtual media event on Monday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The event, which Apple has dubbed “Unleashed,” will be digital-only and streamed online and will likely focus on unveiling the Cupertino firm’s revamped 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

In an investor note with Wedbush today (shared by MacRumors), analyst Dan Ives said third-generation AirPods will likely also be announced at the event.

The third-gen AirPods are said to feature an AirPods Pro-like design, but lacking Active Noise Cancellation, and possibly could have improved sound quality and other new features.

Wedbush says his supply chain checks show that the third-generation AirPods have already been manufactured and are ready for release. He says this indicates the new wireless earbuds will be unveiled during Monday’s Apple event.

The last time Apple’s standard AirPods were updated was when the second-generation AirPods were released in March 2019. The second-generation AirPods are priced at $159 with a wired charging case and at $199 with a wireless charging case.
