Discord Update Adds Native Apple Silicon Support

Discord is rolling out a new version of its topic-based discussion app for the Mac. The new version offers native Apple Silicon support, nearly a year and a half after the initial rollout of Macs with Apple Silicon chips.

Up til now, owners of Apple Silicon-powered Macs relied on Rosetta 2 technology to use Discord on Appleā€™s latest Macs. Rosetta 2 translates apps built for Intel Macs to run on Apple Silicon. Unfortunately, Discord running on Rosetta 2 was an unsatisfactory experience, due to its poor performance and a tendency to sap battery life.

The latest version of Discord for macOS is a Universal app, meaning it runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel. The latest version of Discord for macOS can be found on its website.
