Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple Testing Color ‘Electronic Paper Display’ Technology for Future Foldable Devices, More

Well-connected Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has tweeted that Apple is testing electronic paper display (EPD) technology for possible implementation in future foldable devices and tablet applications.

In his tweet, Kup said that “Apple is testing E Ink’s Electronic Paper Display (EPD) for future foldable device’s cover screen & tablet-like applications. The color EPD has the potential to become a mainstream solution for foldable devices’ must-have cover/second screen thanks to its excellent power-saving.”

Apple is rumored to be planning a 9-inch foldable device that falls somewhere between an iPhone and iPad sometime in 2025. Kup believes that Apple will initially focus on medium-sized foldable devices, later expanding that focus to larger devices, and then finally expanding to smaller, iPhone-like devices.
