Titanium Apple Watch Series 8 ‘Pro’ Could Replace Apple Watch Edition

Titanium Apple Watch Series 8 ‘Pro’ Could Replace Apple Watch Edition

A larger “Apple Watch Series 8 Pro” model is widely expected to debut this fall, sporting a titanium casing. The new Apple Watch could be positioned as a replacement for the current Apple Watch Edition model.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the new, larger Apple Watch model will feature a casing made of “a more durable formulation of titanium to make it extra rugged.”

The titanium Apple Watch Edition model debuted as part of the Apple Watch Series 5 lineup back in 2019. The Apple Watch Edition comes with an additional Sport Band, and it boasts a lighter, stronger casing than the stainless steel model.

A number of rumors have indicated that an all-new high-end Apple Watch is on the way later this year, which is expected to boast a larger display, better battery life, a rugged casing, and a new design. Proposed names for the new wearable include “Apple Watch Explorer Edition,” and Apple Watch Pro.” The rumors have also indicated that the device will be aimed at the extreme sports market.

While the current Apple Watch Edition is priced at $749, the new high-end price point could start “closer to $900 to $999,” making it more expensive than today’s Edition model.

This higher-priced Apple Watch could replace the Apple Watch Edition in the Apple Watch lineup. As the titanium-cased new Apple Watch will likely be positioned above the Edition when it comes to price.
