Twitter Down for Users in U.S. and Several Other Countries

Nope, it’s not something you did, Twitter is down for many users in the United States, as well as several other countries. The website and the Twitter apps are equally affected.

The short-message social platform is having server issues at the moment, with no timetable being provided for a resolution.

Some affected users are receiving a “503 Service Unavailable” alert that says “the Twitter servers are up, but overloaded with requests.” When attempting to send or view tweets, affected users may see a “something went wrong” error as well. Login attempts to Twitter.com result in an error message saying, “Oops, something went wrong. Please try again later.”

Down Detector is currently showing a spike in users reporting that Twitter is down, starting around 7:45 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday morning.

We’ll update this story in this space when we get more information or when the outage is resolved.
