Telegram App Update Brings Video Transcription, Dark Mode, More

Telegram Messenger has released a new update for its iPhone and iPad app. The version 9.1.0 update brings video transcription, topics in groups, and much more.

What’s New

Version 9.1.0

Introducing Topics in Groups

• Groups with more than 200 members can now have their discussions organized into topics.

Voice-to-text for Video Messages

• Premium users can now convert both voice messages and video messages into text.

Redesigned Night Mode

• Colors are more balanced with better blurring effects as you scroll.

Minor Design Improvements

• New animation when you swipe left to reply.

• New menu with call options when tapping on phone numbers in user profiles.

• New placeholders when loading messages in groups and channels.

The new voice-to-text transcription tool can be activated using a new “→A” button in the bottom-right corner of a video. The feature is designed to allow users to read video messages from friends if they don’t have time to view the video.

To access the video messaging transcription you’ll need a Telegram Premium subscription, which costs $4.99 a month and includes other features like faster downloads, a larger 4GB maximum file upload limit, and no pesky ads.
