Leaked CAD Images Reveal Unified Volume Button and Mute Button on iPhone 15 Pro

As we’ve previously seen rumored, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max handset will sport a unified volume button and a mute button, at least according to new leaked CAD images shared in a video on Chinese TikTok and also posted to Twitter by ShrimpApplePro.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a single elongated volume adjustment button to replace the separate volume up and down buttons seen on the current iPhone models. Also, the mute switch that has been on the iPhone ever since 2007 is expected to be replaced by a mute button to be pressed to toggle the iPhone’s ringer off or on.

The new volume and mute buttons are rumored to boast a solid-state design. The buttons will no longer move physically, instead providing haptic feedback from two additional Taptic Engines to be included inside the iPhone. The two new Taptic Engines will simulate the feeling of movement.

The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are still expected to retain their two physical volume buttons and mute switch. However, we won’t know anything for sure until Apple unveils the entire iPhone 15 series in September as is traditional.

In other iPhone 15-related news, tech reviewer Sonny Dickson has delivered another look at the alleged front glass panels for the iPhone 15 series. Dickson’s images show that the Pro models will indeed have thinner bezels around the display and that the Dynamic Island, which was available only on iPhone 14 Pro models, will be expanded to the standard iPhone 15 models.
