Some Mac and iPad Users Report Issues With Continuity Features in macOS 13.3 and iPadOS 16.4

Some Mac and iPad users that have updated their devices to macOS 13.3 and iPadOS 16.4, respectively, are reporting issues with certain Continuity features, like Handoff and Universal Control.

Since last week’s release of both updated operating systems, users have posted about the lack of functionality after updating. Users have taken to the MacRumors ForumsRedditTwitter, and Apple’s Support Communities to voice their frustration.

Users also say they’re having issues with Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and Auto Unlock and Approve with Apple Watch. The main Continuity feature to be negatively impacted by the updates appears to be Universal Control.

Universal Control is the feature that lets users wirelessly control an iPad or another Mac using the keyboard and mouse of their main computer, when they have a Mac and an ‌‌iPad‌‌ next to each other and signed into the same Apple ID.

Some users have reported success with signing out of their iCloud account on both devices; disabling, restarting, then re-enabling Handoff/Auto Unlock with Apple Watch; turning Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth on and off again; and toggling checkboxes related to Universal Control features.

Apple has not commented on the bugs, but it is likely aware of them and working on solutions.
