Apple’s Relocated Tysons Corner Store Opened Today

Apple has been working on the relocated location of its first-ever Apple Store in the Tysons Corner Center shopping mall in Fairfax, Virginia. Today is the grand opening of the revamped and relocated Apple Store.

The Apple Store location opened its doors to customers 22 years ago on May 19, 2001. Apple has since opened over 500 Apple Store locations around the world. The Tysons Corner store is staffed by over 100 team members.

Apple has moved away from including actual Genius Bars in its stores in recent years. However, Tysons Corner has a dedicated Genius Bar located in the right corner, similar to the original location. This is the first actual Genius Bar that Apple has installed in a store since 2015, although the Genius Bar concept itself never went away.

The new location features a flexible hardware space, designed to spotlight Apple’s latest hardware. An in-person Apple Watch Studio is also available, allowing customers to mix and match Apple Watch cases and bands.

The Apple Tysons Corner store offers varied table and seating heights, as well as plenty of space for wheelchair users to navigate. Hearing aid users can take advantage of the store’s portable hearing loop that can be used anywhere in the store. At the Today at Apple table, an assistive listening loop allows users to tune in to the session.

The store features wood paneling, a baffle ceiling design, and individually framed glass doors. Avenues, the Today at Apple section, and Apple Pickup are all present in the store.

As part of Appleā€™s commitment to sustainability, the ceiling is made of biogenic acoustic panels and baffles, minimizing the dependency on metals, while the flooring is created with biopolymers, reducing the need for chemical resins. Like all Apple facilities, Apple Tysons Corner runs on 100% renewable energy and is carbon neutral.
