Members of Apple’s supply chain have begun stockpiling the much-rumored 15-inch MacBook Air, says industry sources cited by DigiTimes. The new, larger MacBook Air is expected to debut during Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference, which begins on June 5.
Despite the impending launch of the new 15-inch MacBook Air, Apple MacBook shipments will likely register a single-digit decrease in 2023 due to a “disappointing first half of the year,” says the report. The report’s sources also said “pull-in momentum” for the 15-inch MacBook Air “has not been as strong compared with previous new products.”
The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to debut at WWDC by both Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo expects the 15-inch model to be powered by the same M2 chip as the 13-inch model, but with multiple GPU configurations.
Other than the larger display, the 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to share the same design as the 13-inch model, which is equipped with a 1080p camera, a MagSafe 3 charging port, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a scissor-switch keyboard with a Touch ID button, and a Force Touch trackpad.
