Bloomberg’s Gurman: iPhone 15 Pro to be Easier to Repair Like iPhone 14 and 14 Plus

The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will have a redesigned chassis with a removal back glass that makes the devices “easier to repair,” much like the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, says Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus last year became the first iPhone models that could be opened from both the front and back sides of the device, since the 2011 iPhone 4S. The redesign did not include the iPhone 14 Pro models, which can only be opened from the front side.

Having a removable back glass would likely result in lower repair fees on iPhone 15 Pro models that have a damaged back glass when customers do not have AppleCare+ coverage. Apple charges from $169 to $199 out-of-warranty fees for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus with back glass damage, while charging $499 to $549 for the same repairs on iPhone 14 Pro models.

Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 15 lineup in September. Gurman repeated his previous predictions that all of the devices will be equipped with a USB-C port and the Dynamic Island, while Pro models are expected to feature a titanium frame, thinner bezels around the display, a customizable Action button, a faster 3nm chip manufactured by TSMC, and more.
