iPhone 15 Pro Models Expected to Be $100 to $200 More Expensive Than iPhone 14 Pro Models

A new DigiTimes report claims Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will carry an at least $100 premium over the iPhone 14 Pro lineup.

The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max starts at $1,099. DigiTimes‘ expects the price of the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ to start at $1,099 to $1,199 and the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max to start at $1,199 to $1,299.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported the Apple was mulling a price increase for both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Industry analyst Jeff Pu has also said a price increase for those models is on the way. Pu says the ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ could be priced starting at $1,099, up from the $999 starting price of the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌.

Pu doesn’t provide details as to why he believes the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be more expensive. However, the higher price will likely be due to a larger battery and display, as well as a periscope camera lens. While both iPhone 15 Pro models will boast telephoto lens technology, the Pro Max model is likely to be the only model that boasts a periscope lens that will enable 5x to 6x optical zoom.

The price increase could result in lower sales of the new iPhone Pro models this year, with some observers expecting to see sales reduced to around 77 million units in 2023. Initial estimates placed shipments at around 83 million units. Apple will also have to deal with a wider decline in the smartphone industry of more than five percent year-on-year.

The iPhone 15 and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ models are expected to debut at an Apple event on Tuesday, September 12. iPhone 15 pre-orders would likely kick off on Friday, September 15, with units hitting shelves following on Friday, September 22.
