Market Research Firm: Apple’s Vision Pro 2 to Boast Brighter and More Efficient Displays

Market research firm Omdia says Apple’s second-generation Vision Pro headset will boast more advanced micro-OLED displays that will offer improved efficiency and improved brightness.

Omdia says Apple has plans to upgrade the Vision Pro to an RGB OLEDoS (Silicon-based OLED) display, which is a significant upgrade from the WOLED (White OLED) with a color filter (CF) used in its current version.

RGB OLEDoS offers significantly higher brightness compared to WOLED and color filter OLEDoS displays, which depend on filtering white light through an RGB color layer. The technology is also much more efficient than WOLED and color filter technology.

Samsung is currently the only company capable of supplying displays based on the RGB OLEDoS technology following its acquisition of eMagin earlier this year. The company will likely replace Sony in Apple’s supply chain if it decides to go forward with the upgrade.

Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously mentioned a 2027 launch time frame for the release of a second-generation Vision Pro headset.
