Apple on Tuesday received United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval for the upcoming Vision Pro headset, just a few days before pre-orders for the device are scheduled to go live. The FCC approval comes a bit more than two weeks before the Vision Pro hits store shelves.
While it may seem as if the FCC approval is coming at the last minute, it isn’t unusual, as it can take quite a bit of time for Apple to receive approval for their devices. The FCC performs rigorous testing before being approved for sales to the public.
While testing was going on, Apple has been required to include a warning message on its website to let consumers know that the Vision Pro had not yet received FCC approval.
Apple Vision Pro has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.
That caveat can now be removed from Apple’s website, advertising, and other places where it is printed.
The Apple Vision Pro will be available starting at $3,499 (U.S.) with 256GB of storage. Pre-orders for Apple Vision Pro will begin on Friday, January 19, at 5 a.m. PST, with availability beginning Friday, February 2.
