Apple today released the first beta of its upcoming visionOS 1.1 update to developers for testing. This is the first beta of a visionOS update that Apple has seeded since the headset’s release last Friday, February 2.
The visionOS beta can be downloaded by developers by going to the Settings app on the device and toggling on the developer betas switch. Access to the beta requires a registered developer account. Apple recommends that developers make a backup before installing the new beta.
visionOS 1.1 brings Apple Device management to the Vision Pro, allowing corporate and educational institution IT departments to manage Vision Pro headsets the same way they manage iPhones, iPads, and Macs.
The beta also brings the ability to wipe the device clean and be set up anew if the user forgets their passcode without the need for a visit to an Apple retail store. Currently, customers who forget their Vision Pro passcode are being told by Apple that they will need to visit an Apple Store to get it reset or ship it to Apple if the user doesn’t have a nearby store. Like Apple’s other devices, the incorrect passcode can only be entered a certain number of times before the device is locked. Removing the passcode requires a total reset of the Vision Pro.
Apple may have also made some updates to the Persona feature in visionOS, as updating to the visionOS 1.1 beta requires the Persona to be redone.
