Apple Releases iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.1 – Fixes QR Code Scanning Bug

Apple today released iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.1, minor updates to the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 operating systems. The updates bring important security updates and bug fixes.

The updates can be downloaded and installed on compatible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update.”

As reported by MacRumors, iPadOS 17.4.1 also includes a fix for a bug that could prevent certain iPads from being able to scan QR codes.

From an Apple Support document:

If your iPad is unable to scan QR codes after updating to iPadOS 17.4

After updating to iPadOS 17.4, the iPad models listed below may be unable to scan QR codes using the Camera app or third-party apps that use the camera. Identify your iPad model.

  • iPad (7th Generation)

  • iPad (6th Generation)

  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd Generation)

  • iPad Pro 10.5-inch

If you are unable to use the Camera app to scan a QR code, update your iPad to iPadOS 17.4.1.

Apple has also released an iOS 16.7.7 security update for customers who are still running iOS 16 on their iPhones.
