As the Apple Card nears its fifth birthday, users of Apple’s iPhone-centric credit card option are being notified that it’s time to replace their cards as the originals are expiring.
Users have now started to receive their replacement Apple Cards, and along with the card a prepaid envelope to send your old titanium card back to Apple for recycling.
Included in the packaging with the replacement Apple Card users will find a cardboard sleeve where they can insert their expired card to send it back to Apple. This sleeve includes a prepaid shipping label to make the process easy. All users need do is load their old card into the provided slot, fold it, seal it, and drop it off at FedEx.
Apple’s move to encourage users to recycle their cards is in line with the company’s broader environmental efforts.
9to5Mac scribe Ryan Christoffel says his Apple Card replacement and recycling experience was seamless. He had received a Wallet notification as well as an email informing him that his replacement Apple Card was on the way, followed by notifications when the card arrived.
He activated his card by holding his iPhone up to the packaging just below the Apple Card, and an “Activate” button appeared on his device. He says he’s happy, as the experience was an elegant blending of tech and user-friendliness.”
