Apple is internally testing iOS 18.2.1 for the iPhone, according to an anonymous social media account with a good track record iOS-related information. The upcoming software update’s build number is: 22C161.
As reported by MacRumors, traditionally, when the anonymous account shares the build number of an upcoming iOS update, it is usually released around a week later. Although, the release of iOS 18.2.1 could be delayed slightly, thanks to the holiday season. The publication does not link to the social media pots in question, due to respect for the account’s request that their social media posts not be linked to.
iOS 18.2.1 is likely to be a minor update that fixes bugs and/or addresses security vulnerabilities. While there has not been any critical, widespread bugs announced recently, Apple has likely identified bugs and/or security vulnerabilities that need to be patched ahead of iOS 18.3.
iOS 18.3 is currently being tested by developers and public beta testers. That update is likely to be released to all users in January or early February.
