Apple in September, teased its new Powerbeats Pro 2 wireless earbuds. The new earbuds’ debut will be very soon, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman who says the new earbuds are “due imminently.”
Gurman’s remarks came in the most recent edition of his Power On newsletter. Gurman said Apple is planning to hold product briefings with the media “in a week or so” to go over the new features of the wireless earbuds. Apple filed the Powerbeats Pro 2 in regulatory databases last month.
The new earbuds resemble the existing Powerbeats Pro, which were released back in 2019, but sport a more vertical, slimmer design.
Powerbeats Pro are promoted as a fitness-focused version of Apple’s AirPods Pro, which boast built-in adjustable ear hooks to keep the earbuds in place. The current Powerbeats Pro have the same H1 chip that debuted alongside the AirPods 2. They are IPX4-rated for sweat and water resistance, offer up to nine hours of battery life, and include four different sized silicone ear tips.
Gurman says they’ll gain support for Spatial Audio and enhanced noise cancellation, indicating that the new earbuds will have AirPods Pro-like ANC features, something the originals lacked.
Other possible new features could include heart rate monitoring during workouts and Adaptive Audio. The earbuds and USB-C charging case will reportedly be available in Jet Black, Quick Sand, Electric Orange, and Hyper Purple.
