Apple has released iOS 18 adoption numbers for the first time since the operating system’s debut back in September, and iOS 18 installations this year are running neck-and-neck with iOS 17 adoption this time last year, according to iOS 18 installation statistics published on Apple Developer site.

iOS 18 has been installed on 76% of iPhones sold in the last four years, while 63% of iPads sold in the last four years are running iPadOS 18. 68% of all compatible iPhones have iOS 18 installed, while 53% of all compatible iPads have iPadOS 18 installed.
19% of all iPhones are still running iOS 17 and 13% have an earlier version of iOS installed. 28% of all iPads are running iPadOS 17, while 19% are running an earlier version of iPadOS.
Last year around this time, iOS 17 was installed on 76% of iPhones from the last four years, while 66% of all iPhones running the update. 61% of iPads from the last four years had iPadOS 17 installed, while 53% of all iPads had the software installed.
iOS 18 is compatible with the iPhone XS/XR and newer.
