20th Anniversary iPhone to Boast Bezel-Free Display, Hi-Tech Battery, Claims New Report

Apple is considering a total redesign for its 20th anniversary iPhone that could feature a completely bezel-less display that curves around all four edges of the device.

Korean news site ET News today reported that Apple’s suppliers are developing a “4-sided bending display technology,” indicating the design will see the glass bending around the sides on all four sides of the device, making the display completely bezel free.

The report also mentions an under-display camera, which would eliminate the need for a punch-hole cutout in the display.

It is known that Apple will start negotiations on the 20th anniversary iPhone display soon. We are going to have a meeting with Samsung Display and LG Display to decide the application technology […]

4-sided bending display technology are being developed, so it is noteworthy whether they will be finally commercialized […] UDC is to hide the camera under the screen, and the four-sided bending is the implementation of a full screen without a bezel.

Counterpoint Research vice president Ross Young, who has a respectible track record when it comes to display-related information for Apple products, posted on social media on Tuesday, indicating Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro models will use an under-screen Face ID system.

The report also mentions a solid-state battery:

Pure silicon battery is a technology that can dramatically increase the energy density and increase the battery life by using 100% silicon instead of graphite as a cathode material.

Perhaps solid-state batteries will finally bring redically extended battery life that we’ve all been waiting for.
