Did You Know?: You Can Use Your iPhone As a Webcam for Your Nintendo Switch 2

Did You Know?: You Can Use Your iPhone As a Webcam for Your Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2, which hit store shelves earlier this week, offers a new social gaming feature called GameChat, allowing up to 12 users to engage in video chats, even when they’re playing different games.

Chat, share, and hang out together with GameChat

GameChat, a brand-new feature on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system, lets a group of up to 12 people chat while playing games.

You can share your screen in real time, even if you’re playing different games! Whether you’re sharing an in-game discovery or just waving hello, GameChat makes it feel like your friends are right there next to you.

Nintendo offers an official Switch 2 Camera that connects via USB-C, but, as first reported by MacRumors, it turns out that an iPhone can do the job just as well, if not better.

Niles Mitchell has shared a demo (seen above) of the Switch-iPhone configuration, showing how to set everything up. The config requires a HDMI to USB-C cable and a HDMI converter cable to connect them, which should cost around $30 in total. That’s a bit cheaper than Nintendo’s asking price of $54.99 for its USB-C camera.
