The iPhone 18 Pro’s Dynamic Island May Move to the Top-Left Corner of the Display

There have been several reports of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max having under-display Face ID, hiding the TrueDepth camera hardware under the display. But, until now no one has talked about where that gear might be positioned.

Now, according to a YouTube video from Front Page Tech’s Jon Prosser, The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will feature a front camera cutout positioned in the top-left corner of the display, which is also where the Dynamic Island will also be relocated.

For those of you not familiar with the Dynamic Island, it is a pill-shaped interactive area that debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The area expands and contracts as needed, displaying live activities, while also hiding the front camera and Face ID sensor cutouts.

Prosser’s video says the new under-screen Face ID system will sit next to a top-left camera cutout, and he claims the Dynamic Island will also make a move to the top left of the screen, expanding from that location occupy the upper portion of the screen, with the area’s functionality remaining the same.

We’ve seen several rumors indicate the the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will boast under-display Face ID, with the TrueDepth camera hardware located under the display.

In May, Counterpoint Research vice president Ross Young shared information that indicated Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro models will use an under-screen Face ID system.

Weibo-based account Digital Chat Station has also claimed Apple is testing under-display Face ID on a prototype iPhone 18 Pro model sporting a single hole-punch camera in its display.

However, we’ve also seen several conflicting reports about where the sensor will be located under the screen and what it means for the Dynamic Island.

Prosser did not say whether his claim about the Dynamic Island is based on new information or if it is based on previous rumors. Since the video also reiterates several iPhone 18 Pro rumors we’ve already seen – such as color options, a new simplified Camera button, an A20 chip, and more – it could just be speculation on his part.

Only time will tell.
