Apple recently shared iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 adoption figures, revealing just how many iPhones and iPads are running tApple’s latest and greatest software versions. These adoption numbers are based on iPhones and iPads that transacted on the App Store on February 12, 2026, according to Apple.
The adoption statistics are as follows:
Now, let’s compare that to the iOS 18 adoption figures in close to the same amount of time last year. (It should be noted that the iOS 18 stats were released 127 days after release, while this years numbers cover 150 days after release.
iPhones and iPads that transacted on the App Store on January 21, 2025 showed iOS 18 was installed on 76% of iPhones sold in the last four years, while 63% of iPads sold in the last four years were running iPadOS 18. 68% of all compatible iPhones had iOS 18 installed, while 53% of all compatible iPads were running iPadOS 18.
All this means that while iOS 26 adoption has been slightly slower than the adoption rates we saw for iOS 18, there was not as large a gap as had been expected.
