Apple Wallet iPhone Driver’s License Feature Expands to 14th U.S. State

Arkansas has joined the slowly-growing list of US states that allow their citizens to add their driver’s license or state ID to the Apple Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch. It is the 14th state to offer the feature.

Starting today, Arkansas residents can add a license or state ID to the Apple Wallet app by opening it, tapping on the “+” button, selecting “Driver’s License and ID Cards” and following the onscreen instructions. The feature requires an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16.5 or later, or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later running watchOS 9.5 or later.

Apple added support for digital IDs back in 2022, but since the feature requires states to implement support, the rollout has been rather slow. In 2021, Apple said that it was in “discussions with many more states” and was optimistic that Wallet IDs would be available nationwide in the future.

Participating States

The following states offer driver’s licenses in the Wallet app:

  • Arizona
