Leaker Claims iOS 27 To Drop Compatibility With Four Older iPhones

Apple will preview iOS 27 next week at WWDC26. According to well-known Chinese leaker Instant Digital, iOS 27 will only be compatible with the iPhone 12 and newer, meaning it will drop support for four iPhone models that iOS 26 is compatible with.

If Instant Digital’s information is accurate, iOS 27 will NOT be compatible the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)

Rest assured though, that Apple will continue to make iOS 26 security updates available for those devices for at least a few years.

According to the leaker, iOS 27 will be compatible with the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 17e
  • iPhone 17
  • iPhone 17 Pro
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • iPhone Air
  • iPhone 16e
  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)

Keep in mind, iOS 27’s Apple Intelligence features, including the revamped, more personalized version of Siri, will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro and later models.

Instant Digital has a fairly decent record when it comes to rumors like this, and Apple has been known to drop older iPhones from the compatibility lists of iOS releases from time to time. However, until Apple confirms the compatibility list for iOS 27, this should be treated as the rumor it is.
