Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has shared what we can expect to see from the upcoming Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 wearables this year. Gurman’s comments came in the latest edition of his Power On newsletter.
While previous rumors indicated that Touch ID was on the way for the Apple Watch Series 12, Gurman said he does not expect the Series 12 or Ultra 4 to have any major design changes compared to previous models. Touch ID would likely be considered as a major design change, so that seems increasingly unlikely.
Another rumor claimed that the Series 12’s band will include an embedded health sensor, but Gurman did not mention that feature.
He instead expects minor changes, such as faster performance and improvements to health and fitness tracking. The Series 11 and Ultra 3 are both powered by the S10 chip that debuted in the Series 10 and Ultra 2, so an S11 chip or newer should make an appearance, providing the first Apple Watch performance improvements in years.
There will not be an Apple Watch SE 4 this year, Gurman said.
He also mentioned that Apple is continuing to develop a blood sugar detection feature with an eye to releasing it by 2030.
