Samsung Display is Getting a Big OLED Boost Thanks to Strong iPhone Sales

Samsung Display has been getting a nice sales boost for its flexible OLED display business this year, thanks to the strong sales of Apple’s iPhone, according to a report from The Elec.

Samsung shipped approximately 120 million flexible OLED smartphone panels during the first half of 2026, good for an impressive 35% year-over-year increase from the roughly 89.2 million shipped in the first half of 2025. That accounted for approximately 65% of the overall increase in global flexible OLED panel shipments.  Shipments increased by about 30.8 million units.

Market research firm Sigmaintell expects demand for the OLED panels to remain strong into the second half of the year, partly due to the expected launch of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and foldable iPhone models this September.

Global flexible OLED shipments for smartphones rose 15.6% from a year earlier to 350 million units over the same period, an increase of about 47.2 million units. The figures indicate Samsung Display drove the bulk of the global increase in flexible OLED shipments.

Samsung Display had about 34.3% of the global flexible OLED market for smartphones by shipments, with China’s BOE shipping 81.4 million units, and accounting for about 23.3%.

BOE ranked first in the overall smartphone panel market, which includes liquid crystal displays (LCDs), with shipments of 280 million units and a 25.2% market share. BOE’s shipments rose 7.1% from a year earlier. Samsung Display’s total smartphone panel shipments increased 0.9% to 170 million units.
