Apple Says ‘Get Ready’ to Pre-Order the iPhone Duo by 9 p.m. Pacific Time Today, Here’s How to Do It

Apple today said that customers have until 9 p.m. Pacific Time this evening (Wednesday) to “get ready” for their iPhone Duo pre-order.

Getting ready early is the best way to secure the new iPhone Duo. Right now, customers can configure their device, choose accessories, secure leasing or financing pre-approval, and arrange their trade-in ahead of the availability-day rush. By saving these choices to their shopping bag before 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, October 15, they are able to check out with a single click the moment pre-orders go live at 5 a.m. PT on Friday, October 16.

By completing this process on Apple’s online store or in the Apple Store app, customers will be ready to “check out with a single click” when iPhone Duo pre-orders go live on Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. The device will be delivered the same day it hits stores, on Friday, October 23.

To get ready to hit the ground running on Friday morning, do the following:

Visit Apple’s “Get Ready” website or go to the Apple Store app.

There, you can select a preferred color and capacity, confirm your carrier status, choose your accessories, select an AppleCare+ plan, designate if you have a trade-in, select a payment method, and set a shipping and billing address. That’s all it takes.

Now, when pre-orders go live, you will essentially order your new iPhone Duo with just one-tap, putting you ahead of those folks that didn’t “get ready.” That will likely prove to be a real advantage when it comes to ordering iPhone Duo, as supplies are expected to be limited.

We could see pre-orders of the iPhone Duo really could sell out within minutes. We’ve seen multiple reports of production issues for the new foldable iPhone, which will likely lead to supply constraints, so being able to submit your order faster is a definitely edge when it comes to ordering.

Your cell phone carrier will also likely offer the ability to pre-order your iPhone Duo, but check with your carrier to make sure and to determine the process for doing so.

Also, be wary of fake pre-order sites. iDropNews reported soon after the iPhone Duo’s unveiling that fake pre-order sites were popping up around the web, as bad actors tried to get their piece of the action.

Plus, Malwarebytes reported at least one website that had a more sinister scheme in mind.

The website, which looked like it was designed by Apple, promised an “Apple Partner Exclusive” $500 voucher for the Duo, but only if users acted fast. Apple recently significantly hiked prices on its devices, so a 25% discounts on a new iPhone model that will be in big demands should be instantly suspicious.

Even worse, the website was set up to infect your iPhone with malware, and simply visiting the page is enough to infect older, unpatched iPhones with DarkSword.
