Prepare to Pay More For The New OLED iPad mini, A LOT More

Apple will debut its next-generation iPad mini later this month, and potential buyers should prepare to dig quite a bit deeper into their pocketbook this time around. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says he is hearing that the new iPad mini will be “considerably more expensive”, floating a new price closer to the $799 mark, $200 more than the current model.

You will be getting more for your money. In addition to a new OLED display, the new iPad mini is expected to boast an A20 Pro chip, a landscape FaceTime camera, an upgraded speaker setup, a new chassis design including thinner bezels, and a water-resistant design.

At this point in time, we don’t know how the new iPad mini’s OLED display will compare to the iPad Pro’s tandem OLED panel. We’ve seen conflicting reports about whether the display will support 120Hz ProMotion.

Apple will most likely not debut at Tuesday’s “Welcome Home” Apple event, but will instead debut later this month alongside new OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models, possibly Tuesday, October 27, as Mark Gurman has previously reported.
