Apple Music Classical Gets an Updated Design With New Icon

Apple has released an update to its Apple Music Classical app. While the version 4.1 release notes merely say that the update brings stability and performance enhancements, it also brings to the table a new black-and-white app icon and an updated interface.

As noted by MacRumors, the app’s redesigned icon keeps the previous icon’s treble clef, but it is now reduced to black and white, with a black symbol on a white background. The monochrome theme for the icon matches the recently redesigned icon for Apple Music, which debuted last month.

The new version of the app also brings blue accents for selected tabs, playback buttons, and links, replacing the previous red ones.

‌Apple Music‌ Classical is included with ‌Apple Music‌ subscriptions at no additional cost. The app offers a simple interface for engaging with classical works. Users can search recordings by composer, work, conductor, or catalog number. Music can be streamed in high-quality audio of up to 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless. Thousands of recordings are available in Apple’s immersive spatial audio.

Apple in August 2021 acquired the classical music streaming service Primephonic and announced plans to fold the service into Apple Music. The service offered a classical music listening experience with search and browse functionality optimized for classical, premium-quality audio, handpicked expert recommendations, and extensive contextual details on repertoire and recordings.

Version 4.1 is available now free in the App Store for the iPhone and iPad, it requires iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later.
