T-Mobile to Begin Unifying Its Brand By Phasing Out Sprint Brand This Summer

On the heels of its recent merger with Sprint, T-Mobile will begin unifying the brand and will begin phasing out the Sprint name this summer. The move was announced by T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert at an investor event earlier this week.

Fierce Wireless reports that T-Mobile will brand all retail stores as T-Mobiel stores with the Sprint name completely removed, The Sprint branding will also be removed from all things, including customer billing.

Sievert said T-Mobile has been aiming for a summer timeframe for the SPrint branding phase-out and unification of the new T-Mobile. Mid-summer is when the company expects to be “advertising one flagship postpaid T-Mobile brand as well as operating a unified fleet of retail.”

Other than a name change, Sprint customers shouldn’t see much change, and will be able to keep their current plans and won’t be required to switch over to T-Mobile plans. However, new customers will need to sign up for T-Mobile plans during the unification.

As with any merger like this, there has been some pain in merging things like the Spring and T-Mobile 5G networks. The Verge reports Sprint’s existing customers with 5G handsets unable to use them on the new T-Mobile network.
