Apple industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the 2024 iPhone 16 Pro Max will continue to be the only iPhone model in the 2024 lineup that will boast an upgraded periscope camera with new zoom capabilities. Apple this year is expected to limit periscope lens technology to the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max.
While some sources, such as The Elec, say Apple will make a “Folded Zoom” periscope lens available on both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max next year, Kuo doesn’t agree.

As previously predicted, the highest-end model of the 2H23 new iPhone 15 model (15 Pro Max or 15 Ultra) will adopt the periscope camera. The iPhone 15 Pro Max could feature up to 6x optical zoom, a good-sized improvement over the current 3x optical zoom available in the iPhone 14 Pro models.
