Apple’s software engineers are testing iOS 26.3.1, which appears to be a minor update to fix bugs and/or security holes. The revelation comes via MacRumors, which has seen visitors to its website from iPhones running the new version of iOS. The update will likely be released sometime in the next few weeks, as we approach Apple’s “Experience” media event.
Apple released iOS 26.2.1 in January, which included bug foxes and added support for the company’s new second-generation AirTag. While it is purely speculation on this reporter’s part, the timing of the iOS 26.3.1 update indicates that in addition to bug fixes, the update may include support for the new devices that are expected to be unveiled the first week of March.
Apple has invited select members of the media to a “special Apple Experience” to be held in three major cities: New York, London, and Shanghai on March 4, 2026 at 9:00am ET.During the event, it is expected that journalists and content creators will be allowed some hands-on time with new products.
