iOS 18.7.6 Now Available to Address iPhone XS and iPhone XR Emergency Call Issues in Australia

Apple on Wednesday released iOS 18.7.6. The update addresses an issue that blocked some older iPhones in Australia from connecting to emergency services.

According to Apple’s release notes, the update fixes an issue that was preventing the iPhone XS and ‌iPhone‌ XR from connecting properly to emergency networks in Australia.

This update addresses a mobile network issue for ‌iPhone‌ XS models and ‌iPhone‌ XR when establishing a connection to emergency services in Australia.

The issue stemmed from Australian mobile network operators having improved support for emergency calling on their networks. This left some older iPhones unable to connect to emergency services in some situations. Apple has been pushing new software to address the issue, including iOS 16.7.4 and iOS 26.2.1 updates.

iOS 18.7.6 can be downloaded on the the iPhone XS and ‌iPhone‌ XR by opening the Settings app and tapping: “General” -> “Software Update.”
