The American Airlines iPhone app now offers support for the enhanced boarding pass feature that Apple added in iOS 26 reports MacRumors. Boarding passes in the Wallet app now feature Apple Maps integration, destination guides, and luggage tracking capabilities.
The Wallet app displays relevant information, including boarding information like gates and departure times, as well as Maps to navigate airports, Find My to track important items, report missing bags, and more. Plus, new shortcuts are now available below the passes providing one-tap access to open Apple Maps for airport directions, and to open the Find My app for baggage tracking. The Wallet app also automatically updates the flight details, including the flight’s gate and departure time.
You can share these Live Activities via Messages with the tap of a button. Recipients with a supported iPhone will receive their own Live Activity to allow them to track your flight.
From American Airlines:
Your boarding pass has a new look with more at your fingertips, like Apple Maps, destination guides, and quick shortcuts to the app. You can also track your luggage and open Find My right from your pass.
Airlines need to opt-in to the new features and update their apps to add support. United Airlines, Air Canada, Southwest, and now American Airlines offer the enhanced boarding passes. While Delta briefly added support, it removed it shortly after.
In addition to the above airlines, the following carriers are expected to add support for the new features in the near future:
- Air Canada
- JetBlue
- Jetstar
- Lufthansa
- Qantas
- Virgin Australia.
Apple also implemented Live Activities support for airlines so users can get real-time updates on a flight in iOS 26, but it is not clear if American Airlines is supporting that feature based on the app’s release notes.
