If you purchase your iPhone Duo from an Apple Store, you’ll get an bonus personalization feature on your new foldable handset, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman,
Pre-orders of the iPhone Duo kickoff on October 16, with device hitting stores on October 23. While the device will be available at both Apple Stores and through carriers, those of you that opt to go the Apple Store route will gain a new precious that will greet you by name when you boot up the device.
Gurman, in an X post late on Friday, said Apple’s retail stores will have a system on hand to modify the boot process of the iPhone Duo, so that when it turns on will show an on-screen “Hello” followed by the owner’s name, such as “Hello, Chris” when it turns on for the first time. (Please don’t tell them that your nickname is “Moto,” as it likely won’t be appreciated. Look it up, kids.)
While Gurman didn’t go into detail as to how this is accomplished, it could use Presto, Apple’s system that offers updating the software of new in-box iPhones that are in store stock. He did not mention whether the feature can be adjusted or disabled after purchase.
The personalization will only be available in U.S. Apple outlets, for the iPhone Duo, and only in English or Spanish.
iPhone Duo pre-orders will begin at 8 a.m. Eastern Time – 5 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday, October 16, and will go on sale on Friday, October 23, 2026. The 256GB Duo starts at $1,999 in the United States.
