Microsoft Office Headed to the iPad?

Microsoft may finally be bringing Microsoft Office to the iPad, reports The Daily, which will directly compete with Apple’s own iWork apps (Pages, Keynote and Numbers).

The report claims that Microsoft is actively working on the project, and the final apps are expected to retail for around $10 each, comparable to Apple’s pricing on their own office apps.

Although the specific titles in the iPad office package are yet to be confirmed, it’s likely that they will include Word, Excel and Powerpoint, although additional app may also be included.

Even though Microsoft is hard at work preparing Windows 8 tablets for market release, it makes a lot of sense for Microsoft to focus on the iPad, as Apple’s popular tablet still currently dominates the tablet market.

The report also claims that Microsoft Office will be coming to the Mac App Store early next year.

“Even though Apple is hard at work preparing Windows 8 tablets for market release” Well that’s certainly news to me….

actually, Apple is working on it … for Microsoft to copy. A bit of truth in the mistake.

Might want to correct: “Even though Apple is hard at work preparing Windows 8 tablets for market release” … Don’t think Microsoft want Apple working on that project :)

Thanks for pointing that out – how embarrassing!

Good maybe some competition will make Apple improve their very week iWorks apps as they for too long have had a lot of potential but still very lacking.  They need an entire upgrade to iWorks for the Mac and they need to improve their syncing of files from the Mac to iPad.

    • Don’t troll at me, I will win.

Take a look at documents in the cloud and then promise yourself to be more informed before saying silly things on the Internet. Drag and drop ease for getting documents into iPad iWork apps.

I would love to see Office on the ipad. I am a windows turned OSX guy, but I still prefer Office over iworks

The only thing keeping my father from converting to an iPad is the lack of Microsoft Outlook. He really needs the controls and features of it as he has been using it for years. If he was able to have his email be as easy as it was on the computer but since organizing emails is horrendous he has held off.
