Retina iPad 3 References Discovered in iOS 5 Code Strings

Following an earlier report that Apple is developing two Retina display iPad 3 prototypes (J1 and J2), 9to5Mac has discovered references to the J2 codename in iOS 5 code strings, adding credibility to the report.

A second T39 code name was also found along with the J2 code name, although it’s entirely unclear what that code name could be referring to (Apple TV 3? Apple HDTV?).

It’s typical for Apple to produce multiple prototypes of forthcoming devices, so these reports are believable, and even expected.

As always, details are sparse – we’ll all just have to be patient and hold our breath to see what Apple has in store for the forthcoming next-gen device!
