New 27-Inch iMac Orders Not Shipping Until January

If you haven’t gotten around to ordering the new 27-inch iMac yet, don’t expect to receive it in time for Christmas! Apple’s latest shipping estimates for the 27-inch iMac have now been pushed into January, due to limited supplies and high demand.

It’s not entirely surprising, however – Tim Cook himself noted during Apple’s quarterly finance conference call that supplies would be limited. Even so, it could come as dissappointing news to those who haven’t yet ordered. The 2013 ship times first surfaced a few days ago – an order that I placed on December 5th showed delivery between January 3rd and January 9th.

There is good news, however – there’s still a strong chance that 27-inch models could show up at Apple Stores and authorized retailers before Christmas. A quick call to a contact within AppleCare suggests that the machines are expected to arrive sometime in mid-December – likely about a week before Christmas.

The 21.5-inch iMac is still showing estimated delivery in 7-10 business days.
