SimCity Finally Launches for the Mac!

It’s been a damn long time coming – but as of this morning, SimCity is finally available for the Mac, several months after the Windows release. EA and Maxis’ new SimCity game has seen mixed success on PCs, after facing server issues that marred the initial launch. The Mac version was delayed numerous times as a result, first from February to June, and then from June back to August in order to prevent similar issues from marring the game’s launch on OS X. But at last, it has finally arrived!

From the SimCity blog:

Welcome to SimCity, Mac Mayors. I’m Senior Producer Kip Katsarelis and I wanted to thank you for patiently waiting to play SimCity. We’ve been working hard since we launched SimCity on the PC, so I also wanted to tell you about all the things we’ve added in the past few months. Before I do that, let’s talk a little bit about the Mac version. […]

As previously noted, owners of the PC version automatically receive access to the Mac version free of charge. If you haven’t already purchased a copy, you can pick up SimCity (download-only version) for just $40 from GameFly.com, or direct from SimCity.com.
