AppleInsider:

The “12 Days” digital content giveaway has become somewhat of a tradition for many iTunes users, though the app was previously limited to Canada and a few major European countries. For 2013, Apple has extended the promo to U.S. customers for the first time, granting them access to freebies that in the past have included movies, music, e-books, apps and more.

Earlier in December, Apple gave a small “preview” of what the 12 Days of Gifts app would be offering, by giving away Lorde’s latest single “No Better.”

The “12 Days of Gifts” promotion runs through January 6th, and requires users to download the free 12 Days of Gifts app in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]

The “gift” can be accessed via Apple’s “12 Days of Gifts” app, available at the link above.

tiny_thief_thumb(UPDATE – 2/27/13) – Apple has apparently decided to go in a different direction for todays free gift, as it is now showing “Tiny Thief,” a game from Angry Birds creator Rovio as the freebie for today. No explanation has been given for the switch.
