How To: Enable System-Wide Display Mirroring On iPad 1

If you thought that the original iPad could only support video in Apple or 3rd party apps that specifically allow for it, you’d be wrong. Well, kind of. As it turns out, the Nature’s Eye Studios Blog has posted a neat hack/tutorial showing how to enable mirroring on the iPad 1.

This hack requires your iPad to be jailbroken, and requires the use of either Apple’s Digital AV Adapter or a VGA adapter to hook the device up to the TV or Projector you;re trying to use. It involves editing a property list file within Springboard itself. While simple, these types of hacks can carry risks, so only proceed if you feel comfortable, and accept possible risks resulting from this.

Check out their video below of the implementation in action:

This could be a great and compelling reason to jailbreak your original iPad using the new untethered 4.3.1 jailbreak that we reported on earlier this morning! Display mirroring opens up a whole new world of possibilities, such as big-screen web browsing, HD gaming, NetFlix straight from iPad to your TV, and so forth.
