iFixit Roundup: iPad 2 Glass is 27% Thinner, May Be Less Durable

According to the good folks over at iFixit, and their attractive spokeswoman MJ, the iPad 2 may be less durable overall than it’s predecessor. According to their reports, the iPad 2’s glass is 27% thinner, which change they speculate was implemented to attain weight savings (although they do note that this is minimal).

Will this mean more people breaking their iPad’s beautiful screen? Time can only tell. As for me, this is one more drop in the bucket for keeping a case on my iPad 2 permanently (whenever I am finally able to get one). Check out the video below for iFixit’s summary of their teardown findings.
