Motorola Xoom Proves That ‘iPad still has it’

If you need to justify your purchase of an iPad, look no further than Charles Arthur’s detailed review of the Motorola Xoom.

And here’s the one-line review: nope, not yet, Motorola/Google. The iPad still has it, by some distance. Honeycomb is nice, and the Android things that are better than iOS are still better (cough *notifications* cough), but tablets are harder than smartphones. Also, app stores really matter, and the Android Market isn’t nearly there.

He nails it. Android doesn’t know what it wants to be: a smartphone or a tablet. For example, Honeycomb still refers to ‘phone settings,’ on a tablet and renders mobile versions of some websites. Details matter and Apple understands this – their competitors don’t.

James first bit into Apple when his mom and dad bought an Apple IIe in 1986. He switched to Wintel in the mid 90s when Apple was in a tailspin and back again to an iBook in 2005 when things were looking brighter. Hopefully there is no turning back to the dark side now.
