Samsung ‘will respond’ to Apple’s intellectual property lawsuit as competition heats up

Samsung ‘will respond’ to Apple’s intellectual property lawsuit as competition heats up

In a statement Tuesday, a Samsung spokesman said the company ‘will respond actively’ to Apple’s lawsuit alleging intellectual property violations.

Apple claims that many of Samsung’s gadgets, including the Galaxy Tab, mimic their “technology, user interface and innovative style.” In a legal finger pointing match, Samsung is now claiming Apple is in violation of their own patents on wireless technology.

To make this legal battle even stickier, Apple is Samsung’s second largest customer behind Sony and accounted for 4% of Samsung’s revenue of $142 billion last year. This is no doubt due largely to Cupertino’s massive demand for solid-state memory and display components for the iPhone and iPad.

These issues will become increasingly common as more technology companies such as Google, Amazon and Apple expand their businesses further into each other’s territory.
