New Leaked Parts Suggest White iPod Touch Could Arrive This Year

iPhone parts supplier iFixDirect has provided photos of what they claim to be the actual front plate of a white fifth-gen iPod Touch. If the parts are authentic, this could strongly suggest that a white iPod Touch is due for release this year.

The components suggest that the next iPod Touch will retain the same design and form factor as the previous generation, but will be available in the new white color. Any updated iPod Touch is likely to feature an updated processor, such as Apple’s A5 processor, and may get an upgraded camera. It’s also possible that the iPod Touch might get a 3G data option.

This isn’t the first credible rumor we’ve seen suggesting a white iPod Touch, as supposedly leaked parts also surfaced two separate times in July – on the 22nd, and then the 29th.

Apple typically holds an iPod-related media event each September, so if a refresh is due soon, the announcement will likely occur at that time.
