iOS 5 Can Already Be Jailbroken

Although Apple released iOs 5 less than two hours ago, the software can already be jailbroken using either redsn0w 0.9.9b4 or sn0wbreeze v2.8 beta 8. Jailbreak hacker iH8sn0w revealed the news earlier today through his Twitter account.

The public release has the exact same build number as the GM build seeded to developers at Apple’s iPhone media event on October 4th, which is what makes such a swift jailbreak solution possible.

It’s important to note that this is NOT an untethered jailbreak, so any time you restart your iOS device jailbroken in this fashion, you’ll have to use redsn0w or sn0wbreeze to boot your device. Also, the iPad 2 cannot yet be jailbroken on iOS 5 using these tools.
