Apple Loses “Copycat” Lawsuit Against Small Spanish Tablet Maker

Apple Loses “Copycat” Lawsuit Against Small Spanish Tablet Maker

Last year Apple filed a lawsuit against small Spanish tablet-maker NT-K for allegedly copying the iPad’s design. Today, FOSS Patents reports that the suit has now been decided against Apple, and that the Spanish company has now filed an anti-trust complaint against Apple.

Apple originally filed their complaint against NT-K in November of last year, seeking a customs ban on shipments of the low-cost Android tablet. As a result, Spanish customs seized numerous shipments, and the company was listed on the EU list of product pirates before eventually facing criminal charges from Apple in December of 2010.

It does seem extreme for Apple to have filed a criminal case against NT-K, and I’m actually somewhat relieved to see that a small company like NT-K can hold their own against a giant company like Apple in today’s court systems.
