Hidden Panorama Mode Discovered in iOS 5 Camera App

AppleInsider writes that hackers have found a hidden panorama mode in the iOS 5 Camera app, but it appears to be in an incomplete form. We had mentioned the possibility of this feature in an article earlier this year.

Conrad Kramer, an iOS hacker who goes by the alias Conradev, posted Monday on his Twitter account that he had found a way to enable the panorama mode in the Camera app – a mode that up until now has been hidden. The feature, apparently still under development by Apple, offers settings for producing a panorama photo.

The mode is said to be activated by setting the “EnableFirebreak” key to YES in a preference file within the operating system. Another jailbreak hacker Chpwn, (Grant Paul,) posted screenshots with examples of the mode. He said a tweak enabling the feature has been submitted to the Cydia storefront for jailbroken iPhones and is available now under the name Firebreak.

Hmmm… jailbreak, and take cool panoramic photos, and have fun with other “unauthorized” apps, or play it safe and just play with the numerous other photo apps available in the App Store… Decisions, decisions…
